Tony Bedard
Position title: Chief Executive Officer, Frontier Co-op
Tony Bedard joined Frontier Co-op in 1991 as head of Operations and was named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in 2003.
Tony leads Frontier Co-op’s mission to nourish people and planet, and is guided every day by the co-op’s mindset that “Doing Good, Works” and firmly believes that doing good can have a positive impact on a company’s performance and the lives they touch.
As part of his belief that business can be a force for good, Tony has been vocal champion in the creation and implementation of the co-op’s Breaking Down Barriers to Employment initiative, which aims to help employees and members of the community overcome barriers to employment and economic mobility by offering accessible childcare, second chance hiring, apprenticeships, transportation services and more.
Tony has personally been recognized for leading Frontier Co-op’s purpose-driven work including receiving the Oscar C. Schmidt Business Leadership Award from the University of Iowa’s Tippie School of Business. Under his leadership, the co-op has been selected by a variety of national and global recognitions, including Engage For Good’s Halo Awards, Reuters Responsible Business Awards, and Inc. Magazine’s Best in Business.
In his personal life, Tony has led more than 25 humanitarian missions to El Salvador and Haiti to support projects in the areas of education, clean water, and healthcare. A strong advocate of corporate social responsibility, he has traveled throughout the world to visit small-scale organic growers in conjunction with Frontier Co-op’s Well Earth program, and has supported dozens of community building and business building projects in the co-op’s grower communities.
Tony holds a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and an M.S. in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University.
