Heather Beaner

Heather Beaner is a retired Lieutenant Colonel Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force and a farmer near Mellette in northeastern South Dakota.  After serving as a military attorney on active duty for 12 years, she transferred to the AF Reserves in 2011 and moved home to take over her father’s 2,300 acre farming operation.  Heather manages the corn and soybean farm, conducts the input buying and grain marketing, and works with her husband to complete all the field work, often with their 9-year-old son along.  Heather serves on the Agtegra Cooperative Board of Directors, the South Dakota Soybean Check-Off Board, and several other regional and national agriculture boards including as a Land O’ Lakes Regional Council Representative. She is also an active volunteer for local groups such as FFA, serves in leadership positions at her church, American Legion and Auxiliary, and is a substitute teacher at the local school.
